CHAKRA BATTALION WINS 12 RAPID INTER BN MINE LAYING COMPETITION

     We are proud to announce that the CHAKRA battalion has once again proved its mettle by winning the 12 RAPID Mine Laying Trophy. This achievement is a testament to the relentless hard work and dedication of Capt Ishaan, the team captain, and Nb Sub Arjun, the 2IC, along with the entire team.      Along with the overall best trophy, unit also won prizes for 3rd best MLP Cdr, 3rd best in written, 2nd best in Innovations & Best prize in Mine Fd laying and recording. This is the third trophy in a row after Bde Level Sniper and BFSR competitions. GOC 12 RAPID and Cdr, 20 Inf Bde have also extended their heartfelt Shabaash to the team for their outstanding performance.      A big congratulations to the team and all participants for their outstanding efforts! NK MAHESH KUMAR OF 8 GRENADIERS ADJUDGED BEST STUDENT IN NTSC/ JTSC COURSE

     COR on behalf of the entire Regt conveys his heartfelt congratulations to Nk Mahesh Kumar of 8 GRENADIERS who has been adjudged as the “ Overall Best Student ” in NTSC/ JTSC Course Ser No 514 conducted at ASC Centre, Bengaluru.      This achievement displays the commitment and hardwork exhibited by the indl in the true Grinder spirit and will surely motivate his seniors, peers and sub-ordinates to strive for excellence. COR INTERACTION WITH YOs PROCEEDING ON YOUNG OFFICERS' COURSE

     Lt Gen Sanjay Mitra, AVSM, GOC 1 Corps and Col The GRENADIERS addressed five officers heading to the Young Officers Course at MHOW in an inspiring interaction. These Young Offrs post undergoing a conscientious trg pgme of four weeks will now be proceeding for the Army Course at Inf School.         The COR during his address and interaction, urged them to remain committed and strive for excellence. He further highlighted the importance of perseverance during the entire duration of the course. His encouragement emphasized the importance of achieving high gradings, aiming not just for personal success but also to bring honor to the regiment. COR INTERACTS WITH THE NEWLY COMMISSIONED OFFRS

       On 04 Oct 24, Lt Gen Sanjay Mitra, AVSM, GOC 1 Corps and Colonel, The GRENADIERS interacted with the newly commissioned Officers of the Regt presently undergoing orientation Capsule at The GRENADIERS RC.        He warmly welcomed both the officers Lt Anurag Negi (PU 15G) & Lt Abhishek Awasthi (PU 16G) into the esteemed folds of the Grenadiers Regiment and congratulated them on joining one of the most elite units of the Indian Army, emphasizing the honor and responsibility that comes with the role. With words of encouragement, he motivated the officers to strive diligently, reminding them of the high expectations that define the regiment’s legacy of excellence and valor. He further exhorted them to excel in all spheres of soldiering in true Grinder spirit and abiding by the regtl ethos of 'Naam, Namak & Nishan'. CDS VISITS JOSHILA SIXTH

     General Anil Chauhan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) visited the troops at forward area and reviewed the operational preparedness and readiness of the Battalion on Northern Borders. He commended the high standards of professionalism and great morale of tps in Niti Valley and appreciated JOSHILA WARRIORS for flawless operational preparedness.       Chief of Defence Staff and Mrs Anupama Chauhan, President, DWWA visited Niti Village in Niti Valley and commended the villagers for their excellent efforts in reverse migration and unending support to the Indian Army. They also paid a visit to the revered Timersain Mahadev Temple located at an altitude of 11,660 feet in picturesque Niti Valley and commended the efforts of the Battalion in renovating the Temple. TRIBUTE TO COL RAJESH MATHEWS (RETD) OF 17 GRENADIERS (MOT) & INTELLIGENCE CORPS

     I deeply regret to inform you about the sad demise of IC–36315P Col Rajesh Mathews (Retd) on 30 Sep 2024 at his native place Chennai (TN) in 72 years of age. He had some pain and was taken to MH Chennai which is very close to their house; despite all efforts by doctors they could not revive him.      The officer was born on 28 Aug 1952 and commissioned into 17 GRENADIERS (Motorized) on 22 Sep 1974. He was transferred to Int Corps, he was served in various Int Units, NCC and part of IPKF. It’s a great loss to the Int Corps Veterans community and Palm Groves Veterans. He was very helpful to all whenever he was approached and had a great sense of humor with his witty and frank views.
